A day learning in the shop

Spent a good day down in fellow turner Jonathon Brooks’ workshop learning some new techniques. One of Jonathon’s designs has been the mini fountain pen. This fun little pen is very compact when capped but when posted becomes a full sized comfortable pen. It was a great project to learn with as it touches on many design challenges in a compact form.

This mini fountain pen was created using minimal commercially available products. ┬áThe clip was salvaged from another pen design and the nib and feed are one of our standard Heritance upgrade nibs. ┬áThe rest was turned, threaded, and drilled from a 3/4″ square stick of acrylic with an ebonite front section.
